Enter your photo’s width and height in pixels. See its print size and whether it can fill a KDP interior page at 300 dpi.
Formula and bleed
Print size in inches = pixels ÷ dpi. Millimetres = inches × 25.4. At 240 dpi the print area is larger, but it does not meet the 300 dpi KDP minimum checked here.
For a full-bleed interior page, add 0.125 inches to the trim width and 0.25 inches to its height: bleed at the outside, top and bottom. Required pixels on each axis = round up((trim + bleed) × 300). This checks 6 × 9, 7 × 10, 8 × 10 and 8.5 × 11 inches. It is not a cover calculation.
Effective dpi is the smaller of image width ÷ page width and image height ÷ page height. Different aspect ratios require cropping to fill the page. Do not cut off part of the dish; alternatively place the image smaller with margins.
Two examples
3000 × 4000 pixels: at 300 dpi, 10 × 13.33 inches (254 × 338.67 mm); at 240 dpi, 12.5 × 16.67 inches. An 8.5 × 11 inch full-bleed page needs at least 2588 × 3375 pixels: enough pixels, but some cropping is required.
1800 × 2700 pixels: at 300 dpi, 6 × 9 inches without bleed. For 6 × 9 inches with bleed, it is short by 38 pixels in width and 75 in height. Changing only the dpi metadata does not create image detail.
Questions and answers
Is 300 dpi in the file properties enough?
Pixel dimensions and actual placement size determine resolution. Changing metadata does not change pixels.
Can I use 240 dpi for KDP?
The comparison is not KDP approval. This checks the 300 dpi minimum in the KDP interior requirements.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. You enter dimensions only. This tool does not upload images or store your inputs.
Does enough resolution prove my photo is sharp?
No. Pixel count cannot assess focus, motion blur or compression damage. Check your exported PDF and a print proof.
Does this rotate or crop my image?
No. Dimensions use the entered orientation. The crop percentage is a geometric estimate, not a subject check.
